TECHNICAL SUPPORT ENGINEER

Job Description:
Under supervision of the IT Manager, installs, maintains, troubleshoots and upgrades computer hardware, software, and peripheral equipment; makes recommendations regarding hardware and software acquisitions; prepares and modifies user documentation and provides user assistance to corporate staff; and performs related work as required. TSE also assesses client support needs; supports client users and administrators in effective use and administration of supported applications; performs remote and local product installations; and provides installation support to clients.

Key Duties:
  1. Installs, configures and upgrades operating systems and software, using standard business and administrative packages; may modify specific applications for use in operational departments.
  2. Installs, assembles and configures computers, monitors, network settings and peripherals such as printers, scanners and related hardware.
  3. Troubleshoots problems with computer systems, including troubleshooting hardware and software, e-mail, network and peripheral equipment problems; makes repairs and corrections where required.
  4. Acts as a technical resource in assisting users to resolve problems with equipment and data; staffs a centralized help desk to facilitate exchange of information and advice; implements solutions or notifies outsource providers as required.
  5. Makes hardware and software acquisition recommendations including helping users assess needs and providing justification for equipment and services.
  6. Assists in instructing corporate staff in the use of standard business and administrative software, including word processing, spreadsheets and database management; provides instruction or written documentation where required.
  7. Assists with the planning, design, research and acquisition of new or upgraded hardware and software systems; maintains current knowledge of hardware, and software and network technology and recommends modifications as necessary.
  8. Installs, prepares, tests, and maintains product installation for clients on remote client systems and local ASP systems as it pertains to corporate client software.
  9. Troubleshoots problems with software functionality, network connectivity, and local ASP server systems as it pertains to corporate client software.
  10. Troubleshoot and support application presentation in a Citrix environment.
  11. Performs other duties of a similar nature or level.
Experience Required
  1. Advanced computer hardware and software installation and troubleshooting.
  2. Windows 2000, 2003, XP, & Vista
  3. Current administration of Citrix Farm/Presentation Server and Terminal Server technologies.
  4. Current working knowledge of LAN and VPN technologies.
  5. Experience working well with non-technical end users both on the phone and in person.
  6. 4 year degree in Information Systems or related field with industry certification or equivalent experience preferred.
  7. Must have current authorization to be permanently employed in the U.S.
